The location

Dunbar 33 is a 257-square-metre modern home built in 2013 in Vancouver’s Dunbar neighbourhood, an area characterised by quiet residential streets lined with impressive old trees and tranquil parks. The house is designed around a split, double-height space that overlooks the garden on the south side and on the north side offers a beautiful view of the mountains. The centre of the building is transparent on both sides, allowing light to enter throughout the day.

The project

In order to recreate a harmonious effect with the cedar wood, stucco and zinc that characterise the exterior of the house, Alta created the kitchen and furniture by combining walnut wood with white concrete finishes, thus creating an interesting and bright contrast of colours and materials. To complete the harmony of the house and the interior design, Alta created a wall unit in the living area with finishes and moods that echo the combination of colours and materials used for the kitchen, giving vitality and brightness to the interior. Furthermore, Alta took care of the realisation of the wardrobes, the office and the bathrooms of the house.
